Gentrification 101 Community Teach-In

(Download the flyer)

The "g-word" is becoming one of the most talked about community issues in urban areas across the world. As development focus now heads south of the 10 freeway, the pressures of increasing housing prices are being felt in South Los Angeles.

What exactly is gentrification? What's the historical context of it? Who is driving it? And how can it be fought while promoting better neighborhoods with the same neighbors?

We request all attendees review the following material that will be referenced in the teach-in prior to attending: http://www.crenshawsubway.org/gentrification101

Join with fellow community residents on Saturday, August 12 from 8:30 am - 1 pm for the first public session of Gentrification 101 - a community teach-in.

This session is co-sponsored by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation Housing is a Human Right campaign, Black Community Clergy & Labor Alliance, Crenshaw Subway Coalition, Fannie Lou Hamer Civic Engagement Project, & Southern Christian Leadership Conference-Southern California.
